ST. PAUL – Sweden is on top of the junior hockey world after a convincing, thrilling gold-medal game victory over Czechia. For the first time since 2012, Sweden is wearing the gold medal at the World Junior Championship.

PAUL – Canada is one game away from playing for the gold medal at the World Junior Championship, but standing in their way is a Czechia squad that has their eyes on ending Canada’s golden hopes for a third straight tournament. The semifinal is set for 7:30 p.m. CT at Grand Casino Arena and we’re expecting a great matchup.

ST. PAUL – Team USA played their best game of the World Juniors to date, but fell one goal short on home ice against Finland and saw their tournament come to an end prematurely. There will be no three-peat and USA remains gold-less on home soil in this event following the 4-3 overtime defeat.

After nearly a week of group stage play, the 2026 World Juniors quarterfinals were set on Dec. 31 and Canada took the main stage in the primetime spot on Friday night, Jan. 2 to take on Team Slovakia in a single-elimination tournament battle.

For Team USA, dropping their final preliminary-round game against Sweden means a date with Finland in a rematch of last year’s gold-medal game.
