Sweden Beats Finland In Shootout, Advances To IIHF World Juniors 2026 Final
Sweden advances to the 2026 World Juniors gold medal game after a 13-round shootout win over Finland in the semfiinals.

Sweden is headed to the gold medal game at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship after dispatching Finland in a marathon semifinal matchup.

After regulation, overtime, and 13 shootout rounds, Anton Frondell ended a heated rivalry game by converting on his third attempt (after missing his first two chances) giving Sweden a 2-1 shootout win following a 3–3 draw.
Finland never held a lead but showed resolve, answering three separate Swedish goals to force overtime.
Goaltenders Love Harenstam and Petteri Rimpinen kept the game alive with clutch saves.
