The 2026 D1 Women's Hockey National Championship game has concluded on Mar. 22. As the final horn blasted in Pegula Arena in University Park, PA, a new national champion was crowned.

The University Of Wisconsin Badgers complete back-to-back titles by defeating The Ohio State Buckeyes, 3-2 at the end of regulation.

In another national title rematch game, since 2023, the Buckeyes and the Badgers have traded the title over the last three years and each game has just been a one goal difference.

The 2026 game would be no different as the Badgers found themselves up early in the first period, 1-0.

The opening goal came with 18:42 left on the clock in the period as Kelly Gorbatenko got the puck in the back of the net. Gorbatenko is assisted by Adela Sapovalivoa and Lacey Eden.

The first period would be rather quite until the back half, when Wisconsin would take a 2-0 lead over Ohio State. The second goal comes with 12:26 left to play as Laney Potter gets the puck in to the net. Gorbatenko and Sapovalivoa get the assist.

The Buckeyes would not go away without a fight as the team would tie it up 2-2 in the third period.

With just 6:18 to go, the Badgers would find their final goal of the game and secure the national title. Claire Enright is the hero for Wisconsin and Marianne Picard and Caroline Harvey get the assist.

The Badgers pick up their ninth title with the victory in 2026.
