The Charlotte Checkers are the AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers, and in 2025 were just two games away from winning the Calder Cup Championship. Since making the move to Charlotte in 2010, the Checkers have won the Calder Cup once, winning in 2019. 

In 2026, the Checkers playoff run ended early, falling to the Springfield Thunderbirds in the First Round of the AHL Playoffs. Led by head coach Geordie Kinnear who has been in the Panthers organization since 2016, the Checkers are in solid hands with an experienced coach.

The Checkers became the Panthers’ affiliate in 2020, but did not play that season due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Now, the Checkers are looking to not only get back to their 2025 form.
