The San Jose Sharks have built one of the NHL's most exciting collections of young talent, and the San Jose Barracuda remain an important stop for prospects trying to make the jump to the NHL.

The Barracuda open the 2026-27 AHL season Oct. 3 against the San Diego Gulls at Tech CU Arena.

Here are three Sharks prospects to watch with the Barracuda in 2026-27.

Filip Bystedt, F

Filip Bystedt is coming off the best season of his young professional career.

The No. 27 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft led the Barracuda with 60 points in 65 games last season, recording 22 goals and 38 assists.

Bystedt has now produced 98 points in 123 career AHL games. The 22-year-old entered Sharks training camp competing for an NHL opportunity, but he remains one of the biggest names to follow if he returns to the Barracuda.

Quentin Musty, F

Quentin Musty made an immediate impact during his first full AHL season.

The 2023 first-round pick recorded 21 goals and 24 assists for 45 points in 61 games. His 21 goals tied for fourth among AHL rookies, while his 45 points ranked among the league's top rookie totals.

Musty is pushing for a spot in San Jose's NHL lineup, but another stint with the Barracuda would give him an opportunity to continue rounding out his game while remaining a potential call-up option.

Luca Cagnoni, D

Luca Cagnoni continues to produce offense from the blue line.

The 21-year-old defenseman recorded eight goals and 35 assists for 43 points in 67 games last season. He finished tied for eighth in scoring among AHL defensemen and was one of the league's most productive power-play defensemen.

Cagnoni also appeared in three games with the Sharks late last season. His offensive ability makes him another young player who could push for additional NHL opportunities in 2026-27.
