Canada has its team to compete at the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton starting on Aug. 3. The event is often viewed as the unofficial kickoff of the NHL Draft evaluation season, with many of the top U18 players from across the world competing for their respective countries.

Canada’s roster features a number of notable players including names that are already becoming familiar to hockey fans. Among them is projected No. 1 prospect for the 2027 NHL Draft Landon DuPont, who starred for the Everett Silvertips in the WHL and is headed to the University of Michigan this season. Some thought he might end up with Canada's group at the World Junior Summer Showcase, but he's sticking with his own age group as Canada tries to reclaim the title on home ice.

Also on the roster is top QMJHL prospect Alexis Joseph, who starred at last year’s World Under-17 Challenge and was part of Canada’s roster at the Men’s Under-18 World Championship in the spring. As a rookie with the Saint John Sea Dogs, the 6-foot-5 forward amassed 60 points in 54 games and named to the league’s all-rookie team. 

Notably, the roster will also include two top underagers as 2010-born Maddox Schultz and Liam Pue, both heading into their first full WHL seasons after splitting time last season with the Regina Pat Canadians U18 squad last season. The duo are widely considered to be among the top prospects for the 2028 NHL Draft.

The Canadian U18 squad will be led by Ryan Oulahen, the head coach of the OHL’s North Bay Battalion.
