HIGHLIGHTS: Game 4 Chicago Wolves vs Toronto Marlies | AHL Calder Cup Playoffs 202621:07

The Chicago Wolves and Toronto Marlies were back on the ice for Friday night hockey to battle it out for the Calder Cup on June 19.

In game four last night, it looked like the Marlies were going to pull off the sweep until the Wolves showed they had at least one more clutch performance in their back pocket.

With just under 16 minutes remaining in the third and chasing a 3-1 game, the Wolves were able to finally beat Artur Akhtyamov for the first time since the first 30 seconds of the game.

Domenick Fensore was responsible for starting the comeback surge. Then, just a few minutes later 23-year old Justin Robidas secured the tying goal with a wraparound off the rebound.

In overtime, it was Viktor Neuchev who was the hero, scoring his second goal of the playoffs and extending the Wolves' life for one more night.

A win was the only choice for Chicago and they couldn't pull it off this time as the Toronto Marlies make history and earn the title of Calder Cup Champion. It's the second time in history that the franchise has claimed the Cup.

Marlies Win The Calder Cup Finals!

The celebrations commence and the The Toronto Marlies are named the 2025-26 AHL Calder Cup champions!

After three full periods of pure hockey chaos, the home team wins it in front of the Coca-Cola Coliseum to secure the title. The Wolves opened the game with a two goal lead but after four unanswered goals by the home team, they couldn't complete the comeback to hold back the inevitable.

Artur Akhtyamov, the winner of the MVP trophy, finished the postseason with an incredible .923 SV% and 2.22 GAA, a key component to helping the Marlies to this history-making victory.

Crunch Time For Chicago - 4:18 3rd

With just four minutes remaining, the Wolves are on the ropes down a goal. They've had plenty of chances but have yet to create enough traffic towards Toronto's zone to beat Akhtyamov again and tie it up.

Primeau left the net with 1:46 remaining.

Wolves Keep The Pressure On To Start Third - 12:00 3rd

With a little more than halfway in the third period remaining, Chicago is responsible for 3/4 chances on net. Most of them are breakouts but Akhtyamov has been ready with plenty of time to prepare.

The puck is down on the final twenty minutes of regulation hockey in game five of the 2026 Calder Cup Finals between the Toronto Marlies and the Chicago Wolves.

Whether you're a Chicago or Toronto fan, this game has something for everyone. Chaos continued to reign supreme in the second period as the Marlies broke open the game and the Wolves tried to scratch their way back into it.

Wolves Score After Puck Stays Alive In Scrum - 0:06 2nd

The Marlies could not find the puck to clear as it bounced beneath the goalie and Toronto defenders in the crease. From the top-down camera, you could see the puck was never covered up by the netminder and eventually it bounced out to Felix Unger Sorum for his second goal.

Chaos is on the menu tonight.

Pare Joins Tverberg, Wolves Get 5-on-3 - 1:51 2nd

Now, the Marlies discipline has gotten out of reach. Cedric Pare thought he could get away with delivering an elbow on the faceoff draw and he was wrong.

Akhtyamov had a beautiful glove save on Valimaki at point blank range to keep the Marlies ahead.

Tverberg To The Box, Wolves Power Play - 2:14 2nd

Tverberg has to spend two minutes in timeout after getting called for hooking in the Marlies zone. The Wolves will get their second power play of the game for the end of the middle frame.

Lettieri Scores Off The Faceoff - 3:10 2nd

It can't get any better for the Marlies fans with a beauty from Vinni Lettieri right off the opening faceoff on the power play. The Wolves' lack of discipline digs them deeper into a hole when their backs are against the wall.

Every whistle is followed by shenanigans.

Legault Has A Headshot For Groulx - 3:14 2nd

Things are getting a bit out of hand here now with a rising hit from Charles Alexis Legault was called as a penalty. Groulx, whose helmet was removed in the process, was happy to let him have it after the whistle in response. Groulx was not called for anything. 

Quillan Beats Primeau With Nasty Backhand Lift - 4:34 2nd

Jacob Quillan had the finisher for the 4-on-4 play with a beautiful top-shelf shot off the backhand, almost finding bar-down to beat Cayden Primeau and give the Marlies the first lead of the game.

Matching Penalties Come Out, 4-on-4 - 6:42 2nd

CHI 2, TOR 2

Benning was called for holding and Nadeau wasn't too happy with being held so he turned around and cross-checked him in the upper body which drew out the whistle for both of them.

Chaos Breaks Loose, Chicago On The Power Play - 10:54 2nd

The initial call was made on Benning taking down Slavin to send the Wolves on their first power play of the game with a chance to retake the lead.

Fensore and Sim went down to the ice in a scuffle after the whistle but weren't given penalties after a stern talking to by the zebras.

The Marlies killed it off without allowing a goal but the Wolves had their chances, throwing three more shots on Ahktyamov along the way. Gunler, Seeley, and Foote were on the offensive.

Nadeau Takes Tripping Call - 14:51 2nd

The hits have started flying both ways and the crowd is living for it. Amidst the chaos, Nadeau's stick caught the skate of Mermis and sent the Marlies back on the advantage.

Marlies Score After 12 Seconds On The Power Play - 16:56 2nd

The Wolves go back on the kill after Skyler Brind'Amour was called for hooking. Cowan drew the defense while Groulx feigned a shot and swung for the fences on the next wind-up to beat Primeau for the tying goal.

Villeneuve and Cowan added assists.

We're back for the second, time will tell if it will hold as much chaos as the first twenty minutes.

This Calder Cup Finals has it all. What a great start to game five for the Chicago Wolves, fighting from down 3-1 in the series and looking for any sort of hope with nothing to lose as they try to fight for a chance to take things back to Chicago.

The Marlies were able to cut the lead in half before the end of the period with a clutch goal from Matt Benning.

Matt Benning had the solution for the Toronto fans after the Wolves quieted Coca-Cola Coliseum with the first two goals.

Felix Unger Sorum has been a critical piece, making time for Slavin who was waiting for the one-timer across the seam and hitting it right where he wanted—behind Artur Akhtyamov for the two goal lead.

Puck Goes In, But It's Waved Off - 4:09 1st

The crowd went wild thinking Tverberg scored again with a great move to almost beat Primeau to the post. The puck slid in under Primeau's skate at the line but the play was whistled dead and waved off. There was no review after the play.

Wolves Hold Off Marlies On Dangerous Power Play - 8:14 1st

Marc Johnstone was battling for the puck behind Chicago's net and drew a holding call on Valimaki for the first power play of game five.

They had a strong start with lively rebounds off of Primeau's pads creating multiple chances for the top unit, but they did not find the gap yet.

The Wolves put up the first goal with a shot from Felix Unger Sorum from the blue line who had a quick turn and release to beat Akhtyamov up high.
