HIGHLIGHTS: Game 1 Toronto Marlies vs Chicago Wolves | AHL Calder Cup Playoffs 202613:52

Game two of the 2026 Calder Cup Finals was set for a Sunday matinee between the Toronto Marlies and Chicago Wolves as they pursue the Calder Cup trophy—the pinnacle of the American Hockey League.

Chicago took home ice advantage first, but it wasn't enough to stop the Marlies from surging to two statement wins to start the series on the road.

It all looked fine and well for the home team at the end of the first as they led 2-1, but the Marlies would have something to say about that in the second.

Alex Nylander drew a penalty shot and the momentum fully into the Marlies' hands until halfway through the third.

Juuso Valimaki was the hero for the Chicago Wolves, giving them life at the end of the game and forcing overtime with just 17 seconds remaining.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored two goals for Toronto, the second of which set up the near-buzzer beater to give Chicago one last breath.

Finally, in overtime, it was the Captain, Logan Shaw who secured the win after brute-forcing the puck into the net at the post and beating Primeau.

Toronto's netminder Artur Akhtyamov had 28 saves. Primeau had 27.

Toronto and Chicago head to Canada for game three on Tuesday with a 2-0 lead in-hand for the Marlies.

Shaw Forced It In At The Post For The Win

It was chaos at Primeau's doorstep as the puck was stuck between his toe and the post. Shaw came in to force it in, the puck jumped over the pad and went into the back of the net to the disappointment of the Chicago loyal.

Overtime Is Live! - 20:00 OT

Chicago is able to once again find life at the very end of the period and extend game two into overtime. Stay tuned to read what happens next.

Valimaki Ties It At 4 - End of Regulation

Valimaki netted his second of the period with less than 20 seconds left to tie it at four and send the game to overtime in Chicago. It was pure desperation for the Marlies as they tried to keep it out despite the extra attacker.

It's Valimaki's 5th of the playoffs. Philp and Suzuki earned assists.

Wolves Try To Force The Issue - 2:33 3rd

It was pure chaos for the final minutes of the period as the Wolves tried to pin in the Marlies and score the tying goal. Primeau left the crease with 2:33 left.

Groulx Gets Another Goal - 6:39 3rd

The Marlies retook the lead with Groulx's 7th goal of the playoffs. He was hammering the rebounds as Primeau struggled to cover the puck up in the crease.

Villeneuve and Lettieri were on the assist.

Valimaki Finds The Rebound, Game Tied! - 11:27 3rd

The Wolves broke out with three and it was Robidas who kept the puck in when Marlies tried to clear it. Robidas passed it to Suzuki who took the puck through the zone with speed. He launched it at the netminder where Valimaki was in Akhtyamov's face for the sweep in and tying goal.

Chicago Circling, Marlies Holding On - 12:13 3rd

The Wolves have been on the prowl as they look for a way past Akhtyamov but he's kept them frustrated, so far.

The game came to a halt after about four icings in a row came from the Marlies at the halfway point of the third.

Can Chicago get back in control and secure a win before heading on the road to Toronto or will they hit the road with a two game deficit? It's all going down in the next twenty minutes of hockey.

Marlies Lead After Penalty-Filled Period - End of 2nd

The Marlies head into the locker room with the lead after two periods.

The middle frame was packed with advantages both ways after it opened with 4-on-4 play. Between a penalty shot and two power plays for the Wolves, it was the Marlies who came out on top with all of the momentum.

The Wolves were able to get their offensive spun up, though, throwing 12 shots on goal during the period.

Lettieri Beats Primeau! - 4:15 2nd

The Marlies were riding the momentum off of their latest penalty kill and Lettieri picked things up right where he left off with a great move across the crease to beat Primeau.

Villeneuve and Mermis had the assists.

Villeneuve Called For Interference - 6:28 2nd

As the penalties keep flying, this time the Wolves go on the power play with the chance to retake the lead. They only had one shot on their last man advantage. They're 1-for-3 so far.

Marlies Kill It Off - 7:09 2nd

All tied up at two halfway through game two and the home team is heading back on the power play after Robidas drew a high-sticking call deep in the Wolves zone. He was in a board battle with Cedric Paré who was sent to the box as a result of the play.

Nylander Nails Penalty Shot - 15:48 2nd

TOR 2, CHI 2

The Wolves got caught and Marlies had a rush heading down the ice. Nylander was out front with the puck and drew a penalty shot after getting hooked on the way there.

He beat Primeau with relative ease to tie up the score.

2nd Period Is Live - 20:00 2nd

We're back and it's 0:45 seconds of 4-on-4 hockey to open the period before the Wolves go back on the power play for a minute.

Wolves Lead After 1, 4-On-4 To Open Second - End of 1st

Fensore caught Tverberg in the face with his stick to send the Marlies back on the power play for a chance to tie it back up before the end of the first.

It wasn't long before Tverberg was in the box himself after slashing Ronan Seeley's stick in half.

Shaw and Mermis had some words for the Wolves at the end of the period which drew out a bit of a scrum.

Philp Scores On Power Play! - 4:20 1st

It was a soft call but the Wolves got their first man advantage of the game after an interference penalty on Benning against the boards.

Wolves took advantage of the call with a great play by Robidas. Robidas shot the puck but it was swatted down where Philp was ready to sweep it past Akhtyamov for the lead.

Groulx Ties It Up With Beautiful Move - 8:43 1st

The Marlies were flying with a 4-on-3 into the Wolves' zone and heads of steam. Groulx ended up with the puck to Primeau's left and was able to make a forehand-backhand move to lift it up shortside.

Legault To The Box, Primeau Saves The Day - 10:58 1st

Charles Alexis Legault broke out with a chance against the boards that was knocked out of bounds. As he skated after the whistle, he gave a glove to the face of Sim which drew up the arm from the refs for the first time today.

The Marlies set up their offense with the advantage for nearly a minute in the Wolves zone and had Primeau in desperation mode, who made a series of great stops.

Chicago Takes Early Lead! - 18:07 1st

Charles Alexis Legault opened the scoring with a great shot from all the way out near the blue line. He moved towards the center to find traffic and hit the post into the back of the net.

The Wolves had an excellent opening two shifts to start game two and it resulted in a goal in the first two minutes.

The Wolves forecheck showed up on time, creating the first shot on goal of the game off a Marlies turnover in teh opening minute.
