Each May, the best hockey players in the world suit up in the colors of their nation to stake their claim in history in the IIHF World Championships. This year, Switzerland's Zurich and Fribourg will provide the setting upon which history and memories will be made.

On May 15, 2026, Team USA will take the ice for the first time in over 90 years as the reigning champions. Who will they play? Of course, a bitter silver medalist Switzerland team that will be ready for vengeance at Swiss Life Arena in Zurich.

After a week and a half of group stage play, just the top 4 from each group will move on to the quarterfinals. Canada will hope to extend beyond their 2025 finish and return to a previous form, which included four gold medals over an eight year stretch (2015-2023).

By the end of this month, gold medals will be placed upon the necks of the newest IIHF World Champions in men's ice hockey and FloHockey will be right there with the latest news along the way.
