The AHL goes outdoors Friday night. A Saturday night match-up between the Tucson Roadrunners and Henderson Silver Knights is up next for the AHLTV on FloHockey Game of the Week. To wrap up the weekend, the Toronto Marlies come to Providence to face the powerhouse Bruins.

Here are three games around the AHL to keep an eye on this weekend.

Friday – Iowa Wild Outdoor Classic
Milwaukee Admirals at Iowa Wild (5:30 pm ET/4:30 pm CT; FloHockey – free)
It will be much warmer for FloHockey viewers than the fans on hand for the Iowa Wild Outdoor Classic in Hastings, Minn., where sub-zero temperatures will test both teams. The game is part of Hockey Day Minnesota’s 20th anniversary celebration.

Milwaukee finally gets a break from the league-leading Grand Rapids Griffins. The Admirals were shut out in back-to-back games by Griffins goaltender Michal Postava and managed just a combined 29 shots in the two games.

Last in the Central Division and lugging around an eight-game winless streak (0-5-3-0), the Wild desperately need a productive weekend. The teams move on to Milwaukee on Saturday night to complete their home-and-home series. Friday’s game will be the first of four consecutive games between the Midwest rivals as the Admirals visit Iowa next weekend for a pair of games.

Saturday – AHLTV on FloHockey Game of the Week
Tucson Roadrunners at Henderson Silver Knights (8 pm ET/5 pm PT; FloHockey)

These two southwestern rivals meet for the first time this season as the Roadrunners come to Henderson for the first of a pair of weekend games.

Holding the seventh spot in the Pacific Division, Tucson has slowed down since a 7-0-1-0 run coming out of last month’s holiday break. They dropped an overtime decision to the San Diego Gulls at home to begin the weekend and then took a 5-3 setback a night later. Saturday’s game opens a stretch of 14 of 18 games away from home that will take the Roadrunners all the way into March.

The Silver Knights are back home after a five-game road trip that went 1-3-0-1 and find themselves four points below the Roadrunners and the Pacific Division playoff line. They will face Tucson six more times after this weekend.

Sunday
Toronto Marlies at Providence Bruins (1:05 pm ET; FloHockey)
Future hopefuls for the long-standing Boston Bruins-Toronto Maple Leafs rivalry will get a taste of each other in this Sunday matinee.

A hectic 3-in-3 weekend will conclude for the Marlies, who hold down third place in the North Division. A 7-2-1-0 surge has helped to lift the Marlies, who had a sluggish open to their season. However, it’s a tenuous advantage as just four points separate them from the sixth-place Cleveland Monsters.

The P-Bruins continue to roll and have themselves just one point out of the Eastern Conference lead. They have five games in hand on that leader, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, too. Providence’s .764 point percentage is second-best in the AHL. They also saw forward Matej Blumel get hot last weekend with three goals in a pair of blowout wins against Cleveland. Blumel returned to action earlier this month after being injured while on recall to Boston in November. He had a league-leading 39 goals last season for the Texas Stars before signing with Boston as a free agent.
