Entering 2024, RIT forward Cody Laskosky had registered six goals and 17 points through 18 games, pacing himself toward a career year that has since skyrocketed.
Laskosky began the season with five goals and eight points through six games, but then the senior couldn’t buy a goal over his next 12 outings, despite supporting the team with eight assists in that span.

On Dec. 30, Laskosky found that elusive goal – alongside 12 penalty minutes. But the goals hit another wall, and he went scoreless in his next five games.
Cue the waterfall.
Laskosky found the back of the net again on Jan. 20 against Robert Morris, not only opening the scoring, but opening the floodgates for a 7-1 win that included a hat trick for himself.
Since then, Laskosky has registered another 13 points (four goals, nine assists), keeping RIT atop Atlantic Hockey with a 5-2-1 record in that time and a two-point buffer over Holy Cross, with a game in hand.
Laskosky now sits with a career-high 36 points and 23 assists and has matched his career-best 13 goals with a home-and-home series with Canisius remaining in the regular season.
The Tigers lone game against Canisius was a 3-2 overtime loss on Jan. 16.

The Camrose, Alberta, Canada, native’s career trajectory and breakout make him a solid bet to land a professional contract this spring, likely gaining attention from a number of ECHL teams.
But his collegiate career has some unfinished business, as RIT looks to snag its first bit to the NCAA Tournament since 2016 and possible first Frozen Four since 2010.
The capability of RIT isn’t unknown, but a bid to the 16-team tournament certainly would garnish them with a “dark-horse” label.
A large returning cast brings higher expectations and further excitement to the program this spring, but nothing is guaranteed, as the Tigers found out the difficult way last year, following a runaway regular-season title.
Last spring, RIT fell in the second round of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament to the hot hand of Holy Cross, despite Laskosky scoring two goals and five points during the team’s five-game postseason.
Now, the hot hand belongs to the 24-year-old, as RIT looks for another opportunity at the national tournament and extended season.
Following a seven-game unbeaten streak, the Tigers have dropped two of their last three contests, so the team will be eager to get back into the win column and fine tune things ahead the playoffs this week.
