The ACHA National Championships presented by FloHockey are right around the corner and a big piece of the puzzle has come into focus. The ACHA announced Wednesday the full 24-team field that will be competing for the Murdoch Cup in the Men’s Division 1 National Championship to be contested in St. Louis, Mo., March 7-12.

The tournament will be streamed in its entirety live and on demand on FloHockey. The full broadcast schedule for the event will be available soon on FloHockey and the FloSports app.

The ACHA released its final rankings Wednesday, which determines the final seeding for the tournament. The top eight seeds automatically advance to the second round, while the remaining 16 teams will play an opening round to advance. The winning teams from the second round move on to the quarterfinals, which is followed by a re-seeded semifinal and the national champion will be crowned on March 12.

Defending national champion Minot State, a perennial power in the ACHA ranks, enters the 2024 tournament as the No. 1 overall seed. Two-time ACHA national champion Adrian College checks in at No. 2, while Central Oklahoma, Jamestown and UNLV round out the top five.

Here are the 24 teams that will be competing for the ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Championship in St. Louis.

ACHA Men's Division 1 Championship Bracket

The tournament will open March 7 with No. 12 Utah taking on No. 21 Missouri State with the winner advancing to take on No. 5 UNLV March 9.

Minot State, which has won three ACHA national titles, will meet the winner of March 7’s game between No. 15 Illinois State and No. 17 Grand Canyon as it begins its title defense on Friday, March 8.

The Beavers are looking to become just the third team in ACHA history to win four or more national championships, joining Penn State (5), Lindewood (4) and Ohio (4). Penn State and Lindenwood have both since made the jump to NCAA Division I.

Ohio, meanwhile, is part of the national championship field at No. 8, as they seek to match old rival Penn State’s record of five national championships. The Bobcats will await the winner of No. 9 Niagara vs. No. 24 Oswego State in a second-round contest schedule for March 9.

With a 24-team field, the Murdoch Cup is one of the most difficult trophies to win in college hockey. In single-elimination bracket format, anything can happen.

Over 33 years, 14 schools have claimed the ACHA national title and there are now 72 programs that make up the ACHA’s Men’s Division 1 level.

In addition to Men’s Division 1, the ACHA will also be awarding national championships at the Men’s Division 2, Men’s Division 3, Women’s Division 1 and Women’s Division 2 levels at the ACHA National Championships presented by FloHockey March 7-17.

All games from each division will stream live and on demand exclusively on FloHockey.
