2021-22 ECHL Power Rankings

Everblades Surging, Icemen Stay Solid

The Florida Everblades have returned to a familiar spot in FloHockey’s ECHL power rankings.

One of the league’s perennial powerhouses, the ‘Blades have caught fire as of late, securing points in each of their last five contests, including four wins. They’re currently in a four-way tie for the most points in the league with 42, and tied for second for most goals at 113 in just 32 games.

1. Florida Everblades (Last Week: 4)

The Everblades have been one of the league’s hottest teams over the past few weeks, and continued that in their only game this past week, an 8-3 drubbing of the cellar-dwelling South Carolina Stingrays on Friday in which John McCarron posted a five-point night with three goals and two assists.

2. Jacksonville Icemen (Last Week: 1)

Jacksonville played just once this past week, a 4-3 win over the Norfolk Admirals that improved their record to 9-1-0-0 in their last ten games. The Icemen have not lost in consecutive games since November 16-17.

3. Cincinnati Cyclones (Last Week: 5)

The Cyclones currently have a league-best eight-game unbeaten streak, one they continued with back-to-back home wins over Fort Wayne and Kalamazoo on Friday and Saturday night, respectively.

4. Toledo Walleye (Last Week: 3)

After a stretch of just three games in 16 days, business picked up in a hurry for the Walleye, who played four times this past week. They showed little signs of rust, winning three including a big 7-2 win in Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

5. Utah Grizzlies (Last Week: 2)

The Grizzlies fall a few spots after a tough week on the road against fellow top-ten team Idaho. They dropped two of the three games they played, salvaging an extra point in Saturday’s 4-3 shootout loss.

6. Orlando Solar Bears (Last Week: 7)

The Solar Bears have played just once since New Year’s Day, a 2-1 win over the Stingrays on Monday night. Orlando scored twice in the first 2:09 of regulation, which was good enough to hang on and secure the victory.

7. Idaho Steelheads (Last Week: 8)

The Steelheads captured five of a possible six points in their three-game home slate against the Grizzlies, posting 11 goals over that stretch.

8. Atlanta Gladiators (Last Week: 19)

Atlanta makes a huge jump in this week’s power rankings after making the most of a three-in-three against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this past weekend. After two home wins, they secured the sweep with a 3-2 win in Greenville on Sunday.

9. Fort Wayne Komets (Last Week: 6)

Fort Wayne was another one of the league’s busier teams this past week, playing four games in five days. The Komets won just one of those contests, a 4-1 win at home over the Toledo Walleye on Saturday.

10. Allen Americans (Last Week: 10)

Allen stays in the tenth spot after splitting their home-and-home two-game set with the Tulsa Oilers this past weekend; the Americans took the opener at home, 6-3, thanks in part to a hat trick by Chad Costello.
