Cody Merrill hails from Ontario, California and is a student at Gilroy High School. In 2021 he won the State Invitational at 182 pounds. Later that year, he took to the stage in Fargo and walked away the 16U freestyle runner-up and Greco-Roman national champion at 170 pounds.
