FloHockey Archives: Alaska Day

College hockey is over for the season, and fans across the country were devastated when the fallout from COVID-19 dashed conference tournaments and the Frozen Four. But just because we lost the end of the hockey season doesn’t mean we can’t look back at all the awesome moments we witnessed over the 2019-20 campaign.

For that reason, FloHockey is running a series over the next few weeks to spotlight teams from the WCHA and Atlantic Hockey, looking at the top five games from each team.

Next up: Alaska.

There's no other way to put it: the Nanooks had a fantastic year both in and out of the WCHA. Alaska managed to collect wins against a fearsome Penn State Nittany Lions squad as well as an up-and-coming Arizona State side, but what they did in conference was most impressive of all. The Nanooks finished tied for fourth in the regular season, just edging out Bowling Green for home ice advantage in the first round of the WCHA playoffs. Although they ended up falling to the Falcons — who were on a red-hot streak — the Nanooks can lift their heads high as they remember their 2019-20 season.

Here’s what the schedule looks like for today:

11 AM*: Alaska vs Denver, Oct. 5

1 PM: Alaska vs Penn State, Oct. 18

3 PM: Alaska vs Arizona State, Nov. 8

5 PM: Alaska vs Bowling Green, Feb. 15

7 PM: Alaska vs Alaska Anchorage, Feb. 29

*All times are Central.

Remember you can watch every Alabama Huntsville game that aired on FloHockey this season on-demand either on the site or in one of our apps: iOS, Google Play, Fire TV, and Roku. Find the complete list of on-demand games here.

Next season will be here sooner than we think.
