Michigan, Ohio State Will Add Chapter To Rivalry In B1G Semifinals
Michigan and Ohio State advance to a Big Ten semifinals showdown after two-game sweeps of Wisconsin and Michigan State, respectively.
Third-seeded Michigan punched its ticket to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament with a 7-4 victory over the No. 6 seed Wisconsin on Saturday — pushing its active unbeaten streak to eight games.
Meanwhile, No. 2 seed Ohio State ran its overall record to 23-8-5 — 5-1-1 over its past seven games — by completing its sweep of Michigan State with a 4-3 overtime win.
The quick work by both programs sets the stage for a Big Ten semifinal matchup between the heated rivals. The Buckeyes will host the winner-take-all playoff game on Saturday at 7:30 PM (CT).
No. 1 seed Notre Dame, which enjoyed a first round bye, hosts fourth-seeded Penn State following the Nittany Lions' series win over Minnesota.
The highest remaining seed from the semifinals will host the Big Ten Tournament Championship game on March 17.
