The Pittsburgh Penguins have several young players pushing toward the NHL, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton should once again give fans a chance to watch some of the organization's best prospects develop.

WBS opens the 2026-27 AHL season Oct. 3 against the Springfield Thunderbirds at Mohegan Arena.

Here are three Pittsburgh Penguins prospects to watch with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2026-27.

Sergei Murashov, G

Sergei Murashov enters the season as one of the top young goaltenders in the Penguins organization.

The 22-year-old went 24-9-3 with a 2.20 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 38 AHL games last season. He also made his NHL debut, appearing in five games for Pittsburgh.

Murashov was even better during the Calder Cup Playoffs, posting a 2.11 goals-against average and .931 save percentage in 15 games.

He'll push for more NHL opportunities in 2026-27, but if he's back with WBS, he'll be one of the AHL team's biggest names to watch.

Harrison Brunicke, D

Harrison Brunicke already has experience at both the NHL and AHL levels.

The 2024 second-round pick played nine games for Pittsburgh last season before returning to junior hockey. He also appeared in five games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Now eligible to play full time in the AHL, the 20-year-old defenseman could begin the season with WBS before pushing for another opportunity in Pittsburgh.

Bill Zonnon, F

Bill Zonnon could be one of the most interesting young forwards to follow in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Pittsburgh selected Zonnon No. 22 overall in the 2025 NHL Draft. He got his first taste of professional hockey during WBS's playoff run last season and recorded seven points in 11 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Zonnon is competing in Penguins training camp and could take another significant step in his development during his first full professional season.
