A new era for New York Islanders prospects begins in Hamilton this season.

The Islanders relocated their AHL affiliate from Bridgeport to Hamilton for 2026-27, creating the Hamilton Hammers. The Hammers open their inaugural season Oct. 2 against the Belleville Senators.

As the Islanders sort through their young talent during training camp, here are three prospects who could be worth watching in Hamilton this season.

Cole Eiserman, F

Cole Eiserman got his first taste of professional hockey late last season after two years at Boston University.

The No. 20 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft recorded 28 points, including 18 goals, in 32 games for Boston University in 2025-26. He then joined Bridgeport and produced two goals and seven assists in 12 AHL games.

Eiserman's shot remains his calling card, and the 20-year-old enters his first full professional season with an opportunity to continue developing into one of the Islanders' top scoring prospects.

Victor Eklund, F

Victor Eklund didn't need much time to make an impression after arriving in North America.

The No. 16 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft had three goals and seven assists in nine games with Bridgeport last season after recording 24 points in 43 games with Djurgarden in Sweden.

Eklund even earned his NHL debut and recorded an assist against the Carolina Hurricanes.

He'll compete for an NHL roster spot during training camp, but Hamilton could feature one of the Islanders' most exciting young forwards if Eklund returns to the AHL.

Kashawn Aitcheson, D

Kashawn Aitcheson could be one of Hamilton's most interesting new faces.

The Islanders selected Aitcheson No. 17 overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, and the defenseman finished his OHL career with a huge season for the Barrie Colts.

Aitcheson recorded 28 goals and 42 assists for 70 points in 56 games and won the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the OHL's Most Outstanding Defenseman.

Now turning pro, Aitcheson gives Islanders fans another first-round prospect to follow closely in 2026-27.
