The CHL USA Prospects Challenge, featuring Team CHL vs. USA Hockey's U.S. National Under-18 Team, is going to be among the most-scouted events on the hockey calendar this season come December. With a pair of games in Quebec, many of the top prospects for the 2027 NHL Draft are going to get a unique showcase in front of many of the NHL’s top decision makers.

Now we know at least the first four players who will get that opportunity as the CHL announced the earliest entries to the 22-player team Wednesday.

Two representatives from the QMJHL were named including Carter Meyer of the Québec Remparts, who will be playing in front of his home crowd in Game 2. Meyer had four points in his second ever QMJHL game Sunday to more formally introduce himself to the league. The interesting wrinkle for Meyer, beyond playing at home, is that he will be playing against his former team as he played at the National Team Development Program last season.

Alexis Joseph of the Saint John Sea Dogs was also named to Team CHL out of the Q. He came into the year as one of the top prospects in the QMJHL and is looking to maintain his lofty expectations. The massive center has tremendous skill and the frame that NHL teams covet.

From the OHL, Dima Zhilkin of the Saginaw Spirit – who is coming off of a five-point opening weekend – will also be heading to the Top Prospects game. He is expected to be a strong candidate for Canada's World Junior roster and is currently captaining a Saginaw team with big aspirations once again. It seems that every year, Saginaw is going to have at least one player in this game. They might even get two if defenseman Levi Harper gets some love from the scouts.

Lastly, from the WHL, Seattle Thunderbirds forward Brock England was the first player named from that league after a strong showing for Team Canada at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup in August.

The games are set for Dec. 1 and 2 in Chicoutimi and Québec City, respectively. With the Saguenéens and Remparts playing host. The remaining players will be named at a later date.

Team CHL’s roster is selected by the CHL in concert with the NHL’s Central Scouting Services.

This will be the third edition of the CHL USA Prospects Challenge. Team CHL won the first edition, while Team USA – which is the U.S. National Team Development Program’s national under-18 team – won last year in the super overtime format after splitting the two games in the series.
