Here are a few of the things you should watch for as the season gets going and why, as players begin their final years in junior hockey before leaping through the threshold of the NHL Draft in June of 2027 and 2028.
The 2026 USHL Fall Classic Is Here
The top American junior hockey league, USHL kicked off this week with all 16 teams under one roof in Downtown Chicago.
The Blackhawks Community Ice Center set the scene for the two first games of the season in front of NHL scouts and college recruiters.
Once NHL camps wrap up, the top stars will pick up regular season play including the 16 year-old Joey Cullen, the first-ever player to make the U.S. Hlinka-Gretzky Cup roster as an underage athlete.
Green Bay Gamblers center Gunnar Conboy put up 21 points with 12 goals in his rookie season and is certainly a player to watch with bright draft hopes in 2027.

OHL 2026-27 Regular Season Starts
In its second year on the platform, the Ontario Hockey League is stacked with some of the top prospects in the U-20 category from all over the world.
With so many players working out with NHL teams during their preseason training camps, the season will continue to ramp up in excitement as more of them return through October.
Amongst the top storylines is Jaxon Cover, a roller hockey star from the Cayman Islands who put up 50 points as a rookie for the London Knights last season. He found his home with the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the 2026 NHL Draft, but is just one example of the incredible players and stories that are worth following in the OHL, most of which have yet to sign on the dotted line.
Guelph Storm and Saginaw Spirit are two teams with superstar talent this season who are looking for life-changing signings in 2027.

The Wait Is Over: QMJHL 26-27
As the Q gets going for another year on FloHockey, there are more players than ever worth following as we close in on the next draft.
Amongst the prospects include the top-ranked American for the 2027 NHL Draft, Carter Meyer, son of NHLer Freddy Meyer.
