The Seattle Kraken enter the 2026 NHL Draft with two first-round picks and another major opportunity to add to one of the NHL’s younger prospect groups. 

Seattle missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the draft order gives the Kraken a top-10 selection and another pick late in the opening round. Seattle’s pick is No. 7 overall. 

The Kraken have built much of their system through recent early selections, including Matty Beniers, Shane Wright, Eduard Sale, Berkly Catton and Jake O’Brien. Seattle used the No. 8 pick in 2025 on O’Brien, continuing a run of high-value first-round swings since the franchise began drafting in 2021.

The Seattle Kraken currently hold the No. 7 pick in the first round of the 2026 NHL Draft.

Seattle owns its own first-round pick at No. 7. The Kraken previously held the No. 25 pick, before trading the pick to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Mackie Samoskevich and a conditional 2027 second-round pick.

NHL Mock Draft 2026: Who Will Seattle Kraken Pick?

The Seattle Kraken are projected to select Alberts Šmits in the 2026 NHL Draft.

FloHockey’s latest 2026 NHL Mock Draft projects Seattle to take the Jokurit defenseman with the No. 7 overall pick. The mock draft noted Seattle’s long-term need on the blue line and described Šmits as a more pro-ready defenseman with size, athleticism and a mature game that already translates well against older competition.
