And just like that, the Kitchener Rangers defeat the Barrie Colts in the OHL Championship Series finals for the J. Ross Robertson Cup and raise it for the first time since 2008.

They rule the Ontario Hockey League and have swept the Colts, 4-0 to end the series on the road for their 5th championship.

The Rangers were rolling into Sadlon Arena with all of the momentum and a three-game lead over the hosts, Barrie Colts.

Sam O'Reilly scored the final goal with the empty net, but it was Christian Humphreys' third period game-winner that sapped the energy out of the room.

Sam O'Reilly Seals The Deal - End of Game

The Rangers cleared the zone and Edwards ended up with the puck finding O'Reilly up the middle to send the puck into the net and give them a two-goal lead.

Hrebik Leaves The Crease, Both Teams Whiff - 0:30 3rd

As the final minutes approach, Colts are still trying to close the gap. Hrebik left his crease to add an attacker.

Rangers whiffed on two good chances at the empty net while Aitcheson fanned on a grade-A opportunity the other way.

Rangers Back On Top - 9:48 3rd

Reid tossed it in where Humphreys was able to redirect it in past Hrebik to give the Rangers the lead once again, just a few minutes after the tying goal.

Edgar scored a huge goal after a bad clearing attempt by Kitchener gives the Colts the puck up high. 

Gardiner slid the puck across to Edgar who was there on top of the crease to force it in.

Colts Kill Off Another Rangers Power Play - 16:45 3rd

Trying to create some turnovers and following up his big hits in the middle period, Crombie got loose with his stick and caught Woolley up high.

It's Kitchener's second power play of the game that the Colts killed off. (0/2).

We're back with Kitchener vs Barrie on the ice for what very well might be the last period of the 2025-26 OHL season.

Colts Fail To Deliver On Power Play - End Of 2nd

High pressure in the Rangers zone forced Pridham to flip the puck quickly over the glass as he tried to avoid a hit. 

Colts went back on the power play and added just one shot on goal before time ran out on the advantage and period.

Just twenty minutes of hockey remain between the Kitchener Rangers and the J. Ross Robertson Cup if the score holds.

Emil Hemming fleeced the entire Rangers defense with speed. It happened on the next play after the Chiarot goal. He finally got the crowd going at Sadlon with the Colts' power play goal.

Barrie Gets The Power Play, Chiarot Scores Shorty - 4:01 2nd

Humphreys heads to the box after tripping Emil Hemming along the wall. They are just 1-for-9 in the series.

Chiarot almost had a shorthanded goal but Hrebik made a huge stop on his first chance. 

Just seconds later, Chiarot had a second chance and was able to flip a backhand up over Hrebik into the net. Impressive work by the Hamilton native.

Rangers Overwhelm Offensively, Colts Finish Hits - 6:44 2nd

Kitchener has doubled Barrie's total shots on goal, hitting 20 at the halfway point of the middle frame.

Colts' offensive opportunities have come to a halt, adding just 2 in the second so far.

Aitcheson In The Box, Barrie Kills It Off - 12:15 2nd

Aitcheson and Chiarot got tied up in the boards, resulting in a power play for the Rangers after Aitcheson was called for holding.

Colts were able to make a few good clears, but not without allowing four shots on goal from the Rangers during the advantage.

Who else but Calvin Crombie gets the Colts started with a shot that Kirsch has to gobble up. MacNiel had some words for him after the whistle but nothing came of it.

Rangers Close Out First With The Lead - End of 1st

That's a wrap on the first twenty minutes of this game four match-up between the Barrie Colts and Kitchener Rangers. Luca Romano had the lone goal of the period. The Rangers had the lion's share of the shots, putting up 10 on Hrebik.

Barrie had 8 shots that were stopped by Kirsch.

On a high note, Barrie won 13/17 face-offs.

Romano scores his third of the playoffs and nails the top left corner of the net, beating Hrebik who didn't even react before it rung the post and the horn went off.

It's been a quiet start in Sadlon Arena but the Colts have been keeping the Rangers hemmed into their own end for much of the first period. They put together a string of three shots on goal in a row and four faceoffs before the Rangers won at the dot once.

Colts Get Going Quickly - 17:40 1st

Crombie threw the first shot on Kirsch. Aitcheson followed up with a dangerous chance that Kirsch stopped with a quick dive to the post.

Emerton had one as well to make it 3-0 shots until Sam O'Reilly was able to let loose a shot from the right wall onto Hrebik.

The teams are hitting the ice and the battle for the historic J. Ross Robertson trophy is up next. Will the Rangers make it a sweep?
