After the long road of the regular season, 16 teams remain in the hunt for the coveted Kelly Cup in the ECHL. The playoff field has been set and after running through the gauntlet of 72 games, the path only gets harder from here.

The final spot in the postseason came down to the very last game of the regular season as the Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Kalamazoo Wings, allowing the Indy Fuel to clinch the last spot in the Central Division and giving Fort Wayne the top seed in the division semifinals

The Kelly Cup Playoffs follow a divisional playoff format where the top four teams from each of the league’s four divisions will play for the right to reach the conference finals. Each of the four rounds of the postseason will be best-of-seven series.

The first round features the No. 1 team in each division taking on the No. 4 from that same division, while No. 2 and No. 3 will play each other. The next round is a division final with the winner advancing to the conference finals, with the winners from each conference advancing to the Kelly Cup Finals.

Who Was The Top Team In The Regular Season?

The Kansas City Mavericks won the Brabham Cup as the ECHL’s regular-season champions. They finished seven points clear of any team in the league with a league-best 55 wins in 72 games and a stunning .799 points percentage.

Who Is The Defending Kelly Cup Champion?

The Trois-Rivières Lions are the defending Kelly Cup Champions, but did not qualify for the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs. There will be a new champion.

The Florida Everblades had won each of the previous three Kelly Cups, becoming the first team to ever three-peat in the league. They won one previous title and are the only team to have won the Kelly Cup four times.
