FGCU has won the national title four times at the Men’s D2 level, but the last one came in 2019 when they went back-to-back. Standing int their way of a fifth championship is an Oklahoma State squad that has been making noise all season.
The Cowboys have lost just once all year and have often dismantled their opponents. Over their four games at nationals so far, they’ve scored 32 goals, an average of eight per game.
They had their toughest game of the tournament in the semis, scoring in the final two minutes of regulation and adding an empty-netter against St. Thomas to punch their ticket.
FGCU, meanwhile, cruised past Penn State in their semifinal, earning a 6-2 win. During their pool play on the road to the final, they won their first two games by a combined score of 21-1 before needing OT to beat Weber State in their pool play finale.
These are two of the very best of Men’s Division 2 and it should be a spectacular final on FloHockey.

Ohio came into the tournament as the No. 2 ranked team in the nation. Despite a scare in their opening game of the playoffs, needing OT to beat Arizona, the Bobcats have cruised the rest of the way. They beat future NCAA program Maryville 8-1 on essentially home ice and then shut out Calvin University in the semifinal with a 4-0 score.
Their biggest test awaits in Adrian, which has gone through an absolute crucible to reach the national championship game.
The Bulldogs did not have the luxury of a first-round bye. They dispatched West Viriginia easily, 8-1, then ran through No. 8-ranked Jamestown 5-0. That set a date with the No. 1 team in the ACHA, Minot State. Rankings didn’t matter much in that one as Adrian earned a convincing 4-1 win over the Beavers.
That led to the semifinal and defending national champion UNLV. Adrian fell behind 1-0 early, but quickly tied the score in the first period. They took the lead in the second, but the Rebels got a late power-play goal in regulation to force overtime.
Captain Sebastian Smith scored his fourth goal of the tournament to win it 3:22 in OT, ending UNLV’s title defense and getting Adrian its fourth win and a ticket to the national championship game.
Adrian has won three ACHA Division 1 titles in men’s hockey including most recently in 2024. Ohio, meanwhile, has been waiting some time for their next title.
The Bobcats are tied for the second most national championships with four, but they have not won the Murdoch Cup since 2004. They came closest in 2017, falling in the national championship game to Central Oklahoma.
