Team USA has reached the Olympic hockey semifinals and is one win away from playing for gold.

The Americans take on Slovakia today after navigating a tight quarterfinal against Sweden, where Quinn Hughes scored the overtime winner to clinch a 2–1 victory and keep the U.S. tournament run alive. 

Slovakia enters as the surprise of the bracket, advancing to the semifinals with a 6–2 win over Germany. 

With the semifinals re-seeded, that result set up this matchup with the United States, with a trip to the gold medal game on the line to take on Canada.

  • Olympic hockey follows IIHF rules, not NHL rules. 
  • Any player who starts or participates in a fight is assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct.
