Team Canada Lines Projected For Men's Olympic Hockey Tournament
Jon Cooper gave a glimpse into his first lineup for Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics following the squad's first practice.

The men’s hockey tournament in Milan is now just days away. All of the NHL players arrived and started practicing, giving us all the first look of how lineups could look and who will play with who in the first best-on-best Olympics since 2014.

Canada’s first practice gave plenty of information about how things could look when the team takes the ice for their tournament opener against a very talented Czech squad Thursday.
Things could change, and they probably will in some cases, especially since Canada had to make some late replacements due to injury. But we also saw Canada’s lineup for the Four Nations Face Off last year and there are a lot of similarities to what was seen there.
Notably, 19-year-old Macklin Celebrini is being put in a pretty prominent spot in the lineup if the first practice is any indication – riding shotgun with Connor McDavid.
Additionally, at the Olympics, teams can dress 20 skaters per game. At Four Nations, only 18 could be put in the lineup. Most teams will go with 13 forwards and seven defensemen in that setup.
Here’s a look at what Jon Cooper was working with in Canada’s practice Sunday, as reported by TSN’s Mark Masters.
