ECHL Power Rankings: Kansas City Mavericks Surge Into Top Spot
The Kansas City Mavericks have won 16 of their last 17 games as they rocketed to the top of our most recent ECHL Power Rankings.

The ECHL season has passed its halfway point and the picture of the contenders and pretenders for the Kelly Cup is clearing up. Teams looking to make a playoff push have to start stacking points in a real way even now with 30-plus games remaining for most teams.
This month’s edition of the power rankings have definitely seen a shakeup at the top since our last visit around the holidays.
The Kansas City Mavericks have leaped ahead of the pack, riding a 14-game winning streak from Dec. 20 to Jan. 30, it was looking more and more like the Mavs would never lose. But even the best teams can have bad days and a loss to the Central Division’s last-place team Iowa Heartlanders last Friday was a bit of a thud to end one of the greatest stretches in franchise history. They followed that up with two more wins over the Wichita Thunder, however, scoring eight goals over that series while allowing just four.
KC has been on fire, but they still have teams nipping at their heels for the top spot including one of their own divisional opponents, the Idaho Steelheads.
There’s still a long enough way to go in the season for teams to rise and fall. As we’ve seen already in this wild campaign is that anything can – and probably will – happen.
Let’s take a look at where things stand as we flip our calendars to February.
1. Kansas City Mavericks (Last Ranking: 6)
A stunning 14-game winning streak put the Mavericks in the driver’s seat for the regular-season title, currently posting an absurd .780 points percentage. Defenseman Marcus Crawford is currently second in the league in scoring with 52 points as he is set to shatter previous career highs.

2. Atlanta Gladiators (4)
The race for the top spot in the South Division is as tight as ever and while the Everblades have more points than the Gladiators, Atlanta has more wins. No team has allowed fewer goals than the Gladiators with netminders T.J. Semptimphelter and Ethan Haider posting a .938 and .922 save percentage, respectively.
3. Florida Everblades (2)
Florida is always in the mix to be a top team in the ECHL. While their run of titles was cut off last season, their standards haven’t dipped a bit. Led by Anthony Romano by a significant margin in the scoring column, it always helps to have a go-to producer and he has been that.
4. Toledo Walleye (7)
The Walleye have had some ups and downs after going on a major run to close out December and enter January. Meanwhile, star forward Brandon Hawkins is in his familiar spot as the top scorer in the league. Meanwhile, the Walleye have used a lot of different goalies, but Carter Gylander has been consistent when called upon.
5. Idaho Steelheads (5)
Don’t look now, but the Steelheads are absolutely rolling of late. With 10 wins in 13 games since the calendar flipped to 2026, Idaho is hunting down KC for the top spot in the Mountain Division. Brendan Hoffman is the league’s top goal scorer this season and has showed no signs of slowing. In fact, he’s heating up with eight goals in his last seven games.
6. South Carolina Stingrays (8)
Tied for the third most wins in the league, the Stingrays have been a wild team to watch this year with some lopsided scores both in their favor and in their opponents’. It’s been feast or famine at times, but they’re winning more often than not. Leading their offensive attack has been third-year pro Simon Pinard who is among the ECHL’s top scorers.

7. Wheeling Nailers (1)
It’s been quite a tumble of late for the Nailers, which appeared to be destined for a long reign at the top of these power rankings, but the month of January was not kind to the Wester Virginia club. The Nailers lost six of seven games to close out January and are left searching for answers.
8. Fort Wayne Komets (3)
The Komets appeared to right the ship after some early-January woes. Their offensive attack has started to heat up even more, with the team showing some strong scoring depth. The team’s hot goaltending from earlier in the year has cooled a bit, but the Komets still look like a threat as a veteran team with a lot of scoring potential.
9. Adirondack Thunder (12)
With wins in four of their last five, it seems like things are settling in even more for an Adirondack team that has been solid for much of the season. ECHL All-Star Brannon McManus has been a difference maker in his first year in Glens Falls, while veteran Jeremy Brodeur has been among the league’s best goaltenders.
10. Tahoe Knight Monsters (14)
One of the highest-scoring teams in the league, Tahoe gets it done by committee. They have eight players with 10 or more goals so far this season including 20-goal man Devon Paliani, but goaltending – led by Cameron Whitehead’s .930 save percentage has been just as sharp as the team’s scoring attack.

14. Bloomington Bison (10)
15. Reading Royals (12)
16. Worcester Railers (20)
17. Savannah Ghost Pirates (23)
18. Greenville Swamp Rabbits (17)
19. Cincinnati Cyclones (13)
20. Kalamazoo Wings (25)
21. Wichita Thunder (18)

23. Trois-Rivières Lions (15)
24. Orlando Solar Bears (28)
