The ECHL and Professional Hockey Players Association announced Saturday night that the two sides had reached a tentative agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement, ending the player strike that began on Dec. 26.

The agreement still needs to be ratified by the PHPA’s membership and the ECHL’s board of governors.

Players are expected to report to their teams in good faith to begin preparations to resume play pending the full ratification of the new CBA.

Details of the agreement have not yet been announced, though the ECHL says that further details will be shared at “an appropriate time.”

Amid the strike, ECHL teams postponed games scheduled for Dec. 26 and 27. According to sources, games currently scheduled for Sunday and Monday are also likely to be postponed and made up at a later date. The league is expected to resume games by Dec. 31, according to sources.
