As Sweden gets set to enter the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, they have legitimate reasons to believe they can contend for gold. Sure, Canada will enter as the favorite, but Sweden has a lot of firepower, experience and balance in their lineup. They also played Canada tough in pre-tournament action, splitting the series.

The roster was finalized Sunday, as Sweden had just one cut to make. Undrafted forward Valter Lindberg, who plays for Skelefteå in the SHL was the last man out. 

Sweden has a loaded forward group led by first-round draft picks Anton Frondell (CHI) and Victor Eklund (NYI), plus projected 2026 first-rounders Ivar Stenberg and Viggo Bjõrck. Their defense is anchored by Leo Sahlin Wallenius (SJS) and Winnipeg Jets first-rounder Sascha Boumedienne, who will be skating a lot of minutes, but there’s plenty more talent.

Sweden’s roster features 17 NHL draft-picks, plus two highly-regarded draft-eligibles. They have balance and a bit more size throughout their lineup.
