AHA Women's Notes: Penn State Set For Top-10 Battle, RIT & RMU To Clash
Penn State moved up two spots in this week's USCHO Poll and will visit No. 7 Northeastern, while RIT and Robert Morris clash in AHA action

All seven Atlantic Hockey teams are in action Thanksgiving weekend.
Robert Morris heads to RIT in the lone AHA series, while Mercyhurst plays in the SMASHVILLE Women's Collegiate Hockey Showcase. Penn State heads to Northeastern in non-conference action and Delaware visits Union, while Lindenwood hosts Bemidji State. Syracuse will also face RPI in a home-and-home.
Here’s what fans can watch for in AHA women’s hockey.
Penn State Moves Up, Ready For Top-10 Showdown
Penn State (16-0-0, 12-0-0) had been ranked sixth in each of the past eight USCHO Polls, and the Nittany Lions remain the nation’s final unbeaten team. However, the Nittany Lions moved up two spots to No. 4 this week – the highest ranking in program history.

Now Penn State will get one of its toughest tasks of the season, as the Nittany Lions head to No. 7 Northeastern (12-2-0). The Huskies have won eight straight and are 8-0-0 on home ice, while PSU is 8-0-0 in road games.
Penn State swept RIT last time out and continues to dominate. Penn State has out-scored its opponents 83-16 and is averaging 5.19 goals scored and 1.00 goals allowed per game.
The wins over RIT extended the Nittany Lions’ lead to 18 points atop the AHA standings. Penn State and Northeastern split their previous four matchups.
Battle For Third
RIT (8-10-0, 4-6-0) and Robert Morris (6-11-1, 4-5-1) are currently tied for third in the AHA standings with 13 points each.
However, the Tigers and Colonials will square off this weekend in Rochester, New York, giving them an opportunity to create some separation. Syracuse and Lindenwood sit right behind with 12 and 11 points respectively.
RIT is 4-5-0 at home this season but went toe-to-toe against Penn State last weekend at Gene Polisseni Center – the site of this weekend’s series.
It’ll be the third and fourth battles of the season, as Robert Morris defeated RIT twice in early October – 2-1 (OT) and 5-1. RMU is coming off a 3-0 win at Lindenwood and is 3-4-1 in road games this fall.
Both of this weekend’s games are set for 2:05 p.m. EST and will be available here on FloHockey.
