What To Know About The 2025 Friendship Four
Meet The Teams
Union Garnet Chargers
No. 20 Union is the only nationally-ranked team competing in the Friendship Four this season, though two others received votes. The Garnet Chargers are off to their best start under head coach Josh Hauge, with an 8-3-2 record with a number of key non-confernece wins and some excellent early results in ECAC play.
Union is led by senior forwards Brandon Buhr and Parker Lindauer who each have 17 points on the season. Buhr is leading the team with 11 goals. Netminder Cameron Korpi has been one of the biggest difference-makers on the team, posting a .920 save percentage in 12 appearances. He also has three shutouts this season.
The Garnet Chargers are the only participant in 2025 to have previously played in a Friendship Four. In fact, Union won the event in 2018, beating Boston University in the championship game.
Miami RedHawks
After a dreadful 3-28-3 season in 2024-25, the RedHawks are starting to turn the corner under second-year head coach Anthony Noreen, so much so that they’re receiving votes in the polls. Miami started the season on a six-game winning streak before entering NCHC play where things have become a bit tougher. Key wins over Arizona State and St. Cloud State, however, have brightened spirits in Oxford.
Fans should keep a close eye on freshman Ilia Morozov, who is making a strong case to be taken early in the NHL Draft with 11 points in 12 games so far. Miami’s top scorer is CHL import Kocha Delic, who has 14 points through his first 12 collegiate games.
RIT Tigers
Having received some votes in the national polls, people are starting to notice the roll the Tigers were on until just recently. After dropping their first two games – to Sacred Heart, no less – RIT rattled off nine consecutive wins between October 18 and November 15. They did drop each of their last two, but now boast a 9-4-0 record under first-year head coach Matt Thomas.
Junior Christian Catalano has led the offensive attack with 11 points, while senior Simon Isabelle is close behind with 10. Otherwise, RIT has seen especially balanced scoring throughout their lineup. Meanwhile, sophomore goalie Jakub Krbecek has been a revelation, posting a 9-3-0 record and .935 save percentage through 12 appearances.
Sacred Heart Pioneers
The Pioneers record may be a little deceptive because they’ve put together some fairly big wins on the season so far. Sweeping RIT at the beginning of the year was a result that only looks better with time. They also picked up a big 2-1 win on the road against a very strong Ohio State squad. Sacred Heart is coming into this tournament on a three-game winning streak punctuated by a 7-2 win over Long Island, which defeated Minnesota the week prior.
Felix Trudeau has been one of the top goal scorers in the country with 12 in just 11 games. Meanwhile, senior defenseman Mikey Adamson has been a big contributor to the offense with 11 points. For the second straight season, Ajeet Gundarah has looked like one of the best goalies in the AHA with a .930 save percentage in 11 appearances. There’s a lot of season left, but Sacred Heart seems to be just starting to hit its stride.
