All seven Atlantic Hockey teams hit the ice this weekend, including a trio of conference matchups. No. 6 Penn State returns from a bye against Syracuse, Mercyhurst hosts RIT and Lindenwood heads to Delaware. Robert Morris also hosts RPI in a non-conference series.

Here’s what fans can watch for this weekend in AHA women’s hockey.

Sisti Hits 300, Mercyhurst On A Roll

Mercyhurst head coach Mike Sisti earned his 300th career conference victory last Saturday as the Lakers earned a 7-2 win at Robert Morris. Mercyhurst is 4-1-1 over its past six and received 17 votes in this week’s USCHO Poll.

Sisti is in his 27th season behind the Mercyhurst bench and has 597 career wins overall. Only one other active Division I coach has 600 wins on their resume – Mark Johnson (Wisconsin).

He’ll look to add two more this weekend as the Lakers hosts RIT. Mercyhurst (7-6-1, 4-2-0) is coming off back-to-back sweeps over Delaware and Robert Morris, and the Lakers sit second in the AHA standings with 11 points.

Julia Schalin continues to impress as well, as the sophomore forward has eight points (2-6-8) over her past five games. Schalin was named the AHA Forward of the Week on Tuesday.

This weekend’s series begins at 6 p.m. EDT on Friday, followed by a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday. Both games will be available here on FloHockey.

Can Anything Slow Penn State Down?

The Nittany Lions are coming off a bye, but they’ll look to pick up where they left off.

Penn State (12-0-0, 8-0-0) remains unbeaten and has scored three or more goals in all 12 of its games. They’ve lit the lamp 56 times – the nation’s third most – and have out-scored their opponents 56-8, including 40-2 in AHA play.

Their eight goals against are also the nation’s second fewest, while Penn State ranks fifth in power play (28.2%), fifth in penalty kill (92.1%) and their seven shutouts are tied with Wisconsin for the NCAA lead.

Penn State will host Syracuse this weekend at Pegula Ice Arena. The Nittany Lions went 4-0-0 against Syracuse last season, winning by 3-2, 5-2, 1-0 and 4-0 finals. The 3-2 and 1-0 wins both came in overtime.

Jeff Kampersal’s club already holds a 13-point lead atop the AHA standings.

Women’s Notes

• Second and sixth place are separated by just four points in the AHA standings. Mercyhurst (11), Syracuse (10), RIT (10), Robert Morris (8) and Lindenwood (7).
• The AHA announced its Players of the Week on Tuesday. Mercyhurst forward Julia Schalin, RIT defenseman Emma Pickering, Mercyhurst goaltender Magdalena Luggin and Lindenwood forward Michaela Paulinyova (rookie) took home the respective honors.
• Penn State senior Katie DeSa has five shutouts this season, which are tied for the most among Division I goaltenders.
• Delaware freshman Charlotte Payne has 309 saves this season, the second most among freshmen goaltenders.
• Mercyhurst sophomore Abby Poitras owns a four-game point streak, the second-longest streak among Division I defensemen. Poitras has six points – all assists – in that stretch
