Utah Top Prospect Caleb Desnoyers Returns To Action Ahead Of Schedule
Caleb Desnoyers will be back in Moncton's lineup Sunday after missing the first several weeks of the season while recovering from offseason surgery.

Surprise! Back a bit earlier than expected after offseason surgery, Utah Mammoth No. 4 overall pick Caleb Desnoyers will return to QMJHL ice Sunday. The Moncton Wildcats announced that their captain will be in uniform and in the lineup for Sunday afternoon’s contest against the Halifax Mooseheads.

Desnoyers has been sidelined after undergoing offseason surgery to repair injuries to his wrists. He played through one wrist injury for most of last season and then was injured further during the Memorial Cup tournament.
The initial prognosis was that he would miss three full months, not returning until November. This late October return is slightly ahead of schedule and good news for both the player and his team.

The 18-year-old Quebec native was one of the best two-way forwards in junior hockey last season, playing an aggressive brand of hockey while also showcasing legitimate scoring capabilities.
Desnoyers led the Wildcats with 84 points last season. He had another 30 in the playoffs as Moncton won the Gilles-Courteau Trophy as league champions. Clearly hampered by injury during the Memorial Cup, he had just two points as Moncton fell short.
Now, the Wildcats will get their best player back amid an uneven start to the season that has seen the team currently sitting in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. Moncton is 6-3-2 to start the season, but will surely get a boost from Desnoyers.
His return is also good news for Hockey Canada, which certainly will consider Desnoyers for the World Junior Championship team. Decisions for that evaluation camp roster will be made in the next few weeks, so this gives Desnoyers the chance to showcase himself for a spot.
Drafted fourth overall last June, Desnoyers is the top prospect for the Utah Mammoth. His ability to play the middle of the ice and his strong competitive drive are going to make him an asset within that organization that continues to rise amid a strong youth movement on its roster.
Desnoyers and the Wildcats will be in action Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET on FloHockey.
