Nashville Predators Send Brady Martin Back To OHL's Soo Greyhounds
Brady Martin, the No. 5 pick in last June's NHL Draft, will be heading back to the Soo Greyhounds after a three-game stint with the Nashville Predators.

The rest of the Ontario Hockey League just got put on notice. When you play the Soo Greyhounds, you better keep your head up. One of the OHL’s most ferocious body checkers is returning to junior as Brady Martin has been reassigned to the Greyhounds by the Nashville Predators.

Martin, who was picked fifth overall in last June’s NHL Draft, spent three games with the Preds after a strong showing during training camp and preseason action. The 18-year-old center had one assist in his first three NHL contests while averaging over 10 minutes of ice time per game.
He was the second-youngest player to make their NHL debut in Predators franchise history.

Now Martin will return to the OHL with plenty to gain after a remarkable draft season that saw him go from a bubble first-round player to the No. 5 pick in the draft.
The Greyhounds have done pretty well without their superstar center, posting an 8-5-0 record, good for third in the Western Conference. Adding Martin, however, is a gigantic boost for a team with legitimate postseason aspirations.
Martin scored 33 goals last season and finished the campaign with 72 points. He went on to represent Canada at the World Men’s Under-18 Championship, helping his home country win gold on U.S. soil, posting 11 points in seven games during the tournament.
That final salvo was among the many reasons Martin ended up as a top-five pick.
His return to junior hockey is also great news for Hockey Canada as Martin will be available for selection at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship. His aggressive, physical style would be a welcome addition to a Canadian team that is likely going to be without a number of high-profile players who made NHL rosters this season.
That Martin is going back to junior is no cause for alarm if you’re a Nashville fan. While his offensive numbers were impressive last year, Martin has plenty to gain by going back. He can be a more forceful offensive player, taking charge of a team that wants to make a deep run this year. On top of that, getting a chance to go to the World Juniors and play a good role for Canada only helps his pro outlook.

The Preds want Martin to be a top-six center for them who can be difficult to play against while also scoring. He can get more reps in that role in junior than he can in the NHL.
For OHL fans, enjoy this season because it very likely is Martin’s last in the league. He’s on a fast track to going right back to Nashville this time next year.
The Greyhounds are back in action Wednesday night, though it is unclear at this time if Martin will be in the lineup. Whenever Martin returns to the ice in Red and White, you'll be able to watch it on FloHockey.
