Sarnia has been in one a bit this season as they played eight games and have managed to get in the win column just three times so far. On the opposite side of the spectrum is the absolutely loaded Windsor squad that has won nine of 11 games and leads the Western Conference by three points in the standings.
The matchup will also feature two of the top NHL Draft prospects for 2026.
Beckham Edwards has been a bright spot for Sarnia, posting 10 points in eight games to pace the team. In a draft that is lighter on top centers, he’s showcasing himself well even amid Sarnia’s team struggles early on in the season.
Ethan Belchetz entered the year as a candidate to go in the top five of the 2026 first round and has done little to dispel that notion. His eight goals are second-most in the league to date, while Belchetz is in the top five in the league in points with 13. The 6-foot-5 winger has clearly put it all together and been a driving force on one of the very best teams in junior hockey.
Beyond Belchetz, Windsor is loaded with future NHL talent including first-round draft picks Liam Greentree (LAK) and Jack Nesbitt (PHI). Chicago Blackhawks third-rounder AJ Spellacy has also made an impact since returning from NHL training camp.
This will be the first meeting between the two clubs since opening night when Windsor put up eight goals on Sarnia in an 8-1 victory. Greentree, Nesbitt and Spellacy were all absent for that game, so this stands to be an even stiffer challenge for the sting.
Friday night’s contest has all the makings of a dandy. With top NHL Draft talent, big-time NHL prospects and a bona fide rivalry, you won’t want to miss this one.
