The Vancouver Canucks’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate is the Abbotsford Canucks, based in Abbotsford, British Columbia. 

The team plays its home games at the Abbotsford Centre, connecting the NHL club closely with its development system. In May 2024, Manny Malhotra was named head coach of Abbotsford, who previously spent time with the Canucks as a development coach (2016-17) and assistant coach (2017-20)

The franchise began play in Abbotsford in the 2021-22 season, following the relocation of the Utica Comets. Since then, the club has steadily built its identity and competitiveness in the AHL. 

The 2024-25 season proved to be a milestone year: Abbotsford clinched a playoff spot for the fourth consecutive year and made an impressive run through the Calder Cup Playoffs. 

Under Malhotra’s leadership, the team won its first ever Calder Cup Championship in June 2025 by defeating the Charlotte Checkers in six games. The winning margin in Game 6 was 3-2, and goaltender Artūrs Šilovs earned playoff MVP honors.
