GOJHL Rebrands As GOHL, Strengthens Alignment With OHL
The GOJHL has been renamed the GOHL as it strengthens its alignment as the official development league for the OHL.

The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) will now be known as the Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL) starting this season. The move represents the junior league’s direct relationship with the OHL as the major junior circuit’s official development league.

The OHL announced the GOHL as its first official development league earlier this month. As part of the strengthened partnership, the leagues are committed to a cohesive framework that "provides a unified approach to training, competition and mentorship" in order to support the growth of the players.
“The GOHL has always been about player development, and now, as the official development league of the OHL, we’re raising that standard even higher,” said Craig Spada, commissioner of the GOHL in a statement. “Our new identity reflects this partnership and shows players, fans, sponsors, and the hockey community that we are fully committed to providing the best development system in the province. It’s about creating real advantages for our athletes as they take the next step in their careers.”
The prior GOJHL had long been a training ground for future OHL standouts and even NHLers. Among recent alumni from the league are Oliver Bonk (PHI), Easton Cowan (TOR), Logan Mailloux (STL), Brandon Montour (SEA) and Mark Scheifele (WPG).
The league’s events like the MacPherson Tournament and the GOHL Prospects Game will continue in the rebranded league.
The GOHL has 23 teams across the province, playing a 50-game regular season before hitting the Sutherland Cup Playoffs.
The new season began Sept. 10 with all games streaming live and on demand on FloHockey.
