The ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings is the Toledo Walleye, one of the hottest teams in the ECHL. The Walleye fell to Trois Riveres in the Kelly Cup Finals, and it was their second appearance in the finals since 2022.

Now in 2025, the challenge for Toledo will be getting over the hump of reaching the Kelly Cup Finals and winning. With Detroit having a loaded roster at the NHL level, the Walleye benefit, and have become a premier developmental team for NHL prospects.

Led by head coach Pat Mikesch, Toledo is still in the hunt for its first Kelly Cup trophy, but is inching closer to it every season.
