The 2024-2025 AHL season has finally come to a close following the Abbotsford Canucks' stunning Calder Cup win on June 23. The Canucks dominated the season and were relentless through the six-game series against the Charlotte Checkers to receive their first ever Calder Cup trophy.

But now hockey fans must endure a few months without the beloved sport, as the 2025-2026 season won't begin until October. 

Until then, trades, contracts, and many more offseason moves will fill the timeline ahead of a season that hopes to see two new Calder Cup Finals contenders. 

The Texas Stars, affiliate of the Dallas Stars, are one of few AHL teams that have already announced their season opener. The Stars are set to tip off for the new season on October 10, 2025 at the HEB Center in Cedar Park. Other confirmed dates for the Stars include games on Friday, Dec. 19, Saturday, Dec. 20, Saturday, Jan. 3, Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31. 

The complete schedule for the Stars’ 17th AHL season will be announced later in the summer, along with a multitude of other teams.
