The 2025 IIHF World Championship group round continued on Tuesday with its third game of the preliminary round, featuring Canada’s National Men’s Team and France.

Canada remained as dominant as it has been all tournament, shutting out France 5-0.

Canada entered the matchup riding on the high of a 7-1 blowout against Latvia on Sunday, while France couldn’t muster a win over Finland despite an intense battle on the ice, falling 4-3.

The two opposite approaches showed on the ice, as Canada found unique ways to find the net off four different scorers, while France was unable to capitalize on open scoring opportunities.

Canadian forward Bo Horvat took the prize of most valuable player for Canada after slinging two scores, one to open the game up and another to extend his team into a 4-0 lead in the third period.

France struggled to keep the puck out of its own territory and suffered multiple turnovers within it. Although the French had two notable instances of open ice to bring in a goal, both were blocked by Canada goaltender Jordan Binnington, who didn't concede a single point.

Canada remains undefeated in the IIHF World Championship and looks to play Austria next on Thursday, May, 15.
