The USHL announced its individual awards and All-USHL teams on Monday and Tuesday as a number of NHL draft picks, 2025 draft prospects and top college hockey commits were recognized. Additionally, Wednesday afternoon, the league announced that Boston Bruins prospect Will Zellers of the Green Bay Gamblers has earned Player of the Year honors.

Zellers enjoyed a spectacular season as the North Dakota commit was named the league’s Player of the Year, Forward of the Year and an All-USHL First Team selection, while Lincoln goaltender Yan Shostak and Youngstown defenseman Luke Osburn each earned individual awards.

Madison forward Ryker Lee also took home multiple accolades as the 2025 NHL Draft prospect racked up 31 goals and 68 points in his rookie campaign.

The USHL will continue its award announcements this week as the league’s Player of the Year will be revealed on Wednesday, along with the GM of the Year and Coach of the Year on Thursday.

Here’s a look at each of the individual player award winners.

USHL Player of the Year: Will Zellers, Green Bay Gamblers

USHL Forward of the Year: Will Zellers, Green Bay Gamblers

Zellers racked up 71 points over his 52 games, including a USHL-leading 44 goals. Those 44 goals also set a franchise single-season record in March, which was previously 41. Zellers averaged 1.37 points-per-game this season and also led the USHL with 214 shots, along with 22 power-play points.

The Maple Grove, Minn. product was traded from Colorado – who took him in the third round at last summer’s draft – to Boston at the NHL Trade Deadline and has given Bruins fans plenty to be excited for. Despite his 5-foot-10, 176-pound frame, Zellers constantly showcased his vision, poise with the puck and the ability to make plays in the offensive zone.

USHL Defenseman of the Year: Luke Osburn, Youngstown

The Buffalo pick (2024, 4th round) took a big step in his second USHL season and anchored a talented Youngstown blue line. Osburn finished the season with 41 points over his 55 games, which was tied for fourth among USHL defensemen. He had 8-15-23 during the 2023-24 season. The Wisconsin commit was also a key member of Youngstown’s power play and racked up 19 assists on the man advantage.

Osburn finished the regular season a plus-10 and helped Youngstown secure the top spot in the Eastern Conference with 86 points. The Phantoms also allowed the league’s second fewest goals at 167, just one behind Lincoln’s 166.

USHL Goalie of the Year: Yan Shostak, Lincoln

Speaking of Lincoln, much of the Stars’ success started between the pipes. Shostak finished the season with a 29-12-1-0 record, .911 save percentage and 2.40 GAA, guiding the Stars to their fourth Anderson Cup in franchise history.

Shostak led all USHL netminders in GAA and ranked second in wins, save percentage and his three shutouts were tied for third. The St. Cloud State commit made 987 of 1,084 possible saves this season and 2,064 of 2,278 in his USHL career.

USHL Rookie of the Year: Ryker Lee, F, Madison

Lee became the first player in Capitols history to win the award as the Michigan State commit led all USHL rookies with 68 points and 31 goals. Both also ranked fourth among USHL skaters overall and he finished the regular season with 21 multi-point games.

Lee was also a force on the power play, where he earned 23 (10-13-23) of those 68 points, and finished the year a plus-9. Lee came in at No. 28 among North American skaters on Central Scouting’s final 2025 draft rankings.
