The 2025 Clark Cup Playoffs get started Monday night as four best-of-three series will take place this week.

Madison (3) hosts Green Bay (6) and Cedar Rapids (5) visits Muskegon (4) in the Eastern Conference, while Waterloo (3) hosts Tri-City (6) and Fargo (5) heads to Sioux City (4) in the Western Conference.

Youngstown (1) and Dubuque (2), and Lincoln (1) and Sioux Falls (2) earned first-round byes as the top two teams in each conference.

Here’s a look at each of the four matchups.

Madison (39-17-5-1) vs. Green Bay (27-31-2-2)

The battle of Wisconsin will take place yet again, except this time in the playoffs. The Gamblers are Capitols closed out the regular season on Saturday with Madison earning a 6-5 win, and the Capitols took the season series, 5-4-1.

Madison is 6-2-2 over its past 10 and Green Bay is 2-6-1-1. The Capitols have been one of the USHL’s top teams all winter and come into the series with the league’s second most goals (250) and have allowed the fifth-fewest (185). Green Bay was out-scored 242-202 over its 62 regular-season contests.

Schedule

  • Game 1 – Monday, April 14, 7:05 p.m. CDT at Madison
  • Game 2 – Tuesday April 15, 7:05 p.m. CDT at Madison
  • Game 3 – Wednesday April 16, 7:05 p.m. CDT at Madison (If Necessary)

Muskegon (38-16-4-4) vs. Cedar Rapids (27-30-2-3)

Muskegon finished the season with 84 points – tied with Madison and just two behind conference-leading Youngstown – and has been one of the league’s most-complete teams. Yet the Lumberjacks fell to the fourth seed. However, Muskegon still gets home ice for this week’s series and will look to continue its strong finish to the regular season.

The RoughRiders won two of their final three games to close out the regular season and lit the lamp 12 times in the stretch. Cedar Rapids has struggled away from home this season and is 2-7-1 over its past 10 road games, but the RoughRiders won a road first-round series two years ago and will look to do it again.

Schedule

  • Game 1 – Monday, April 14, 6:10 p.m. CDT at Muskegon
  • Game 2 – Tuesday April 15, 6:10 p.m. CDT at Muskegon
  • Game 3 – Wednesday April 16, 6:10 p.m. CDT at Muskegon (If Necessary)

Waterloo (34-18-6-4) vs. Tri-City (29-29-3-1)

The Black Hawks ride a three-game win streak into the playoffs and are 7-3-0 over their past 10, and they’ve been one the USHL’s top defensive teams. On the other side Tri-City’s lineup features two of the league’s top goal scorers in Artemi Nizameyev and Nolan Roed, but the Storm have struggled to get consistent offense at times. They also allowed 225 goals during the regular season, which was the second worst among all playoff teams.

Waterloo has been one of the league’s top home teams in recent years and went 17-9-1-4 this season. However, the playoff success hasn’t followed. They’ll try to change that this spring.

Schedule

  • Game 1 – Monday, April 14, 6:35 p.m. CDT at Waterloo
  • Game 2 – Tuesday April 15, 6:35 p.m. CDT at Waterloo
  • Game 3 – Wednesday April 16, 6:35 p.m. CDT at Waterloo (If Necessary)

Sioux City (31-23-3-5) vs. Fargo (29-27-4-2)

It’s the second straight year the Musketeers and Force have met in the playoffs, except this time two rounds earlier. Fargo and Sioux City went the distance in the Western Conference Finals last spring, yet the Force ultimately prevailed in five games.

The Force (2024) and Musketeers (2022) have won two of the USHL’s past three Clark Cups and one will keep their championship hopes alive. Sioux City controlled the season series, 7-0-1, and the Force have struggled on the road of late – dropping four straight and going 6-3-1 over their past 10. Sioux City finished the regular season 16-12-0-3 on home ice.

Schedule

  • Game 1 – Tuesday April 15, 7:05 p.m. CDT at Sioux City
  • Game 2 – Wednesday April 16, 7:05 p.m. CDT at Sioux City
