The ECHL’s regular season wraps up this weekend and there are still four playoff spots up for grabs. The South Division is locked in, but the other three divisions have at least one playoff spot open.

Those spots will be decided in the coming days, locking in the Kelly Cup Playoffs field for what should be another thrilling postseason as the rest of the league looks to thwart a fourth consecutive championship for the Florida Everblades.

There are a number of key games across the league including Friday night’s ECHL Game of the Week that will stream live and free on FloHockey’s social media. The Reading Royals are currently two points behind the Worcester Railers for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division. Those two teams square off at 7 p.m. ET on FloHockey and across social media.

Meanwhile, there are still teams jostling for the last spot in two other divisions as well.

Let’s take our last look at the ECHL playoff picture heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

South Division

Who Is In

  • South Carolina Stingrays
  • Florida Everblades
  • Jacksonville Icemen
  • Orlando Solar Bears

Notes

The South Division has been locked in for weeks, but seeding still has a chance to change. The Stingrays are three points clear of the Everblades for the No. 1 spot in the division and home ice throughout the playoffs. South Carolina also has a game in hand. Basically Florida needs to win out over their last two games and needs SC to lose out to hop over them. Florida has two games at home against Atlanta, while SC has a pair at Norfolk and one at Greenville to close out the year.

North Division

Who Is In

  • Trois-Rivières Lions
  • Norfolk Admirals
  • Wheeling Nailers

Who Is On The Bubble

  • Worcester Railers
  • Reading Royals

Notes

In the North, all eyes are on Worcester and Reading. Worcester has a two-point advantage with two games remaining and they play each other in both. The playoffs are basically on right now. The Railers clinch with a win Friday night, but Reading can sweep their way into the postseason in regulation. It is as tight as you can get. Meanwhile, Norfolk and Wheeling are still jostling for home ice in the first round. Either way, they’ll play each other, but who gets the extra home game in the best-of-seven? Wheeling has a game in hand with three straight against division leader Trois-Rivières.

Central Division

Who Is In

  • Toledo Walleye
  • Fort Wayne Komets
  • Iowa Heartlanders

Who Is On The Bubble

  • Indy Fuel
  • Kalamazoo Wings

Notes

The first three spots in the Central are locked into place. Toledo won the division, Fort Wayne gets home ice against Iowa in the first round and now we wait for the fourth and final team. That could be decided as soon as Friday night. The Indy Fuel need to secure just one point in any of their remaining three games to clinch a playoff spot. But they’ve got a home-and-home against Kalamazoo and a season finale on the road against Toledo. Should Kalamazoo win both games in regulation, they keep their hopes alive to the bitter end. It would be a miraculous comeback if it happens.

Mountain Division

Who Is In

  • Kansas City Mavericks
  • Tahoe Knight Monsters

Who Is On The Bubble

  • Wichita Thunder
  • Tulsa Oilers
  • Idaho Steelheads

Notes

After first place Kansas City, the division is tight as a drum. Tahoe has 88 points heading into the weekend, Wichita has 85, Tulsa has 84 and Idaho has 83. Tulsa has a pair of games against last-place Allen. Idaho hosts a pair of games against Kansas City and Wichita is on the road for two against the Tahoe Knight Monsters, who are still clinging to second place and home ice in the first round. All of these teams will be focused on their game, but you know the healthy scratches will be scoreboard watching intently to see how close this really gets.
