It certainly has been an exciting season in the BCHL and it will close out with an unprecedented event. The Rocky Mountain Challenge will feature B.C. champion Surrey Eagles against Alberta champion Brooks Bandits in a best-of-three series for Western Canada superiority.

Brooks, which has been a perennial power in Alberta, won the first-ever Alberta Cup in the BCHL playoffs, defeating the Sherwood Park Crusaders in five games. Meanwhile, Surrey just completed a dream run to the Fred Page Cup, the BCHL’s traditional championship trophy, defeating the Penticton Vees in six games.

The first Rocky Mountain Challenge will drop the puck for Game 1 on Friday, with the series set to be completed over the weekend with a Game 3 set for Sunday if necessary. All three games will be played at Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks.

This will be the first meeting between these two teams since 2013. In three previous meetings between the two sides, Brooks has won two, while Surrey has one win.
