Iowa women's freestyle coach Clarissa Chun added another key piece to her line-up in advance of the program's inaugural season. Rose Cassioppi, ranked #7 at 164 pounds, has committed to the Hawkeyes.

Rose's brother, Tony, is a three-time national place winner for Iowa and a U23 World champion with two more seasons of eligibility.

"Everyone told me I was going to attend Iowa but I didn't want them to make my decision," Cassioppi said. "Once I made my visit I really clicked with all the girls. I'm close to home, my brother goes there, and I really like the coaching staff. It was a perfect fit."

The Roscoe, Illinois, native is currently training in Colorado Springs with the Elite Accelerator Program at the Olympic Training Center. She is a three-time Fargo All-American who reached the 152-pound Junior finals in 2021 and a 2022 Illinois state champion. Cassioppi's most recent tournament was a third-place finish in the 170-pound class at the Grand View Open in Des Moines.

Cassioppi will compete at the U20 World Team Trials in Spokane, Washington, on March 14-16 and at the US Open on April 27-29, both at 76 kg.
